Dubai International Airport (DXB) is a station for millions of travellers every year. When travelling through it, you have to be aware of the banned items and the Emirati regulations regarding them to avoid any legal issues or possible delays. Some items are prohibited and others are only restricted, so let’s learn which are which.

The only exception in this category is the pre-authorized permission from the relevant UAE authorities for specific weapons on special occasions such as security personnel flying or sports event coverage.
All forms of narcotics including Cannabis, Heroin, Cocaine, Hashish, and Ecstasy are prohibited in their natural and synthetic forms. Additionally, some medical drugs from the same category, psychotropic medications and sleeping pills are also forbidden.
The exception for that is medications that are prior approved by the UAE Ministry of Health with a doctor’s letter, valid prescription and having the medications in their original packaging.
This includes acids, alkalines, corrosives, radioactive materials and any other hazardous material. This category also involves biological substances such as insecticides, pesticides, aerosols, pressurised cans, and weed killers.
Gambling is prohibited in the UAE, so any tools or material related to it is harshly banned. We mention devices such as poker chips, slot machines and roulette wheels. Playing cards, promotional material and any other items relevant to gambling activities are also forbidden.
